Individual Therapy

make meaningful change

If you are at a place in your life where you are ready for change, want to learn how to better cope with life stressors, or heal the traumatic wounds of your past, my philosophy is grounded in evidence-based techniques that have a strong “real life” impact for those who long to heal themselves and thrive. It is not enough to quiet the past and reclaim the present; we must also have the tools, confidence, and resilience to successfully navigate future challenges.

Using a holistic approach grounded in both acceptance and change, I specialize in working with adults, teens, and adolescents who are seeking to minimize or manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma; who are feeling stuck and want freedom from old patterns of thinking, feeling, and doing that no longer serve them in the present; or who have difficulty coping with grief and loss, social situations, or major life transitions.

Counseling services are available to current residents of Washington state! Contact me for your free, 15-minute consultation to learn more about my therapeutic approach and see if we might be a good fit.

EMDR Therapy

We can’t change the past, but we can change how we relate to it. EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) is a comprehensive and integrative approach that focuses on the beliefs, emotions, and body sensations associated with traumatic memories. Instead of trying to “make sense of” past painful or confusing experiences, EMDR uses visual, tactile, and/or auditory bilateral stimulation to access maladaptively stored memories and facilitate healing. Successful EMDR does not erase the negative experiences that have impacted our lives; instead, it gives us the opportunity to move forward with increased confidence and self-esteem, improved relationships with others, and an enhanced capacity for self-regulation.

Cognitive-Behavior Therapy

Having the space and freedom to talk through our challenges can help us gain clarity, perspective, and a deeper understanding of our struggles. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is rooted in the notion that the content of our thoughts directly influences the quality of our experiences, including our emotional reactions and behaviors. CBT is an evidence-based approach that involves recognizing the core beliefs about your identity and worldview that helped you survive in the past but keep you from thriving in the present. Together, we’ll work to transform any dysfunctional beliefs, along with their associated thoughts and behaviors, so that you are empowered to live in alignment with your values and goals.

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment with acceptance, curiosity, and nonjudgment. By learning to shift out of autopilot and directly experience our thoughts, feelings, and body sensations, we gain the freedom to change old habits of thinking, feeling, and doing that no longer serve us. Mindfulness helps us better notice the little triggers that compound into emotional distress, empowering us to make conscious, value-based choices that nourish our wellbeing. In addition to reducing stress and managing pain, mindfulness gives us a fresh perspective when relating to both pleasant and unpleasant experiences, allowing us to transform our experiences and fully engage with our lives.
